Outline of Treatments & Services Provided
NSFAAC offers a broad range of treatments and services covering the conditions outlined below, plus many more. If there’s treatment or service you’re searching for is not included in this list, contact your local office to see how we can help.
Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown Toenails are a condition in which the nail grows so that it cuts into one or both sides of the paronychium or nail bed. When the nail grows into the flesh, it can become painful, sensitive to the touch, red, swollen, and in some cases, become infected. However, you don’t need to live with this painful condition any longer.
Give our office a call today at the Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic to schedule an appointment to get rid of the pain caused by ingrown toenails.
Arthritic Foot and Ankle Care
Arthritis affects millions of people each year. However, arthritis in the foot and ankle can be extremely painful due to the load bearing weight placed on the inflamed joints.
Arthritis in the foot and ankle can cause loss of mobility; however, if diagnosed and treated early, many people are able to maintain a steady level of mobility and independence.
If you have constant pain in your feet and ankles, don’t hesitate to give our office a call today to set up an appointment.

Fractures
Fractures, or broken bones, are more common among young children. For an adult, a fracture can be more serious. There are different types of fractures and different severity levels, which determine the overall treatment.
Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic can help diagnose your foot or ankle fracture and make sure that you receive the best treatment for a full and successful recovery.
Bunions
Bunions cause the first joint of the big toe to slant outward and the second joint to angle toward the other toes. Bunions can also become swollen and tender and can make it difficult to wear your favorite shoes.
If you notice a large bump on our big toe joint that is persistently painful, have problems with wearing shoes or finding shoes that will fit, or if you have a difficult time moving your big toe, it may be time to see a doctor.
Give us a call today to schedule an appointment with the Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic.
Sports Injuries
When you sign up to play a sport, you also sign up for the possibility of getting injured. Here at the Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic, we specialize in a variety of sport injuries from the painful tearing of the Achilles tendon to ankle sprains to the annoying itch of athlete’s foot.
If not treated in a timely manner, sport injuries can create life-long, unnecessary pain. Give us a call today to schedule your appointment, so that you can get back into the game in no time.
Achilles Tendon
The Achilles is the tendonous extension of two muscles in the lower leg: gastrocnemius and soleus. In humans, the tendon passes behind the ankle. It is the thickest and strongest tendon in the body. It is about 15 centimeters (6 in) long and begins near the middle of the calf.
Ankle Sprains
Ankle sprains are caused by an unnatural twisting or force on the ankle bones of the foot, often resulting in one or more ligaments on the outside of the ankle to be stretched or torn. If not properly treated, ankle sprains could develop into long-term problems.
Ankle Instability
Ankle instability is a condition characterized by a recurring “giving way” of the outer (lateral) side of the ankle. This condition often develops after repeated ankle sprains.
Athlete’s Foot
A chronic infection caused by various types of fungus, Athlete’s foot is often spread in places where people go barefoot such as public showers or swimming pools.
Diabetic Ulcers
With a diabetic foot, a wound as small as a blister from wearing a shoe that’s too tight can cause a lot of damage. Diabetes decreases blood flow, so injuries are slow to heal.
Because diabetic ulcers are the most common foot injury that leads to lower extremity amputation, it is very important that you schedule regular visits with specialists such as the doctors at the Foot and Ankle Specialty Clinic.
With routine visits, patients will learn the best practices for foot hygiene, nail care, and the benefits of finding the proper footwear. All of these factors can help reduce your risk of creating diabetic ulcers that can become painful and lead to amputation.
Hammertoes
Hammertoe is a deformity of the second, third, or fourth toe. In this condition, the toe is bent at the middle joint, resembling a hammer. Left untreated, hammertoes can become inflexible and require surgery.
If your toes are causing you pain and you feel that you may have hammertoes, call us today at the Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic to schedule your appointment. The sooner you get in to see a specialist, the less likely your hammertoe condition will become worse.
Flat Feet
Flat feet are a common condition. In infants and toddlers, the longitudinal arch is not developed, and flat feet are normal. The arch develops in childhood, and by adulthood, most people have developed normal arches.
Flat feet usually don’t cause problems. However, if you begin to experience pain in your ankles and knees, a visit to our office may help you relieve some of that pain. Call Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic today to schedule your appointment.
Heel Pain
Plantar fasciitis (or heel spurs) is commonly traced to an inflammation on the bottom of the foot. Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain.
Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain that usually occurs with your very first steps in the morning. Once your foot limbers up, the pain of plantar fasciitis normally decreases, but it may return after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position.
Plantar fasciitis is particularly common in runners. In addition, people who are overweight, women who are pregnant, and those who wear shoes with inadequate support are at risk of plantar fasciitis.
Our practice can evaluate arch pain and may prescribe customized shoe inserts called orthoses to help alleviate the pain. Give Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic a call today to schedule your appointment.
Foot Infections
There are several foot infections that our office can diagnose and treat. Some of the most common foot infections include:
Warts
A wart is generally a small, rough growth, typically on a human’s hand or foot but can also be found in other locations. Warts tend to resemble a cauliflower or a solid blister and are caused by a viral infection.
Fungus Toenails
Nail fungus is a fungal infection in one or more of your nails. An infection with nail fungus may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken, and develop crumbling edges and unsightly and potentially painful problems.
If you feel like you may be suffering from one of these infections, give the Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic a call today.
Bone Spurs
A bone spur is a bony projection that forms at the edges of bones and usually where bones meet each other like joints and in the spine. Bone spurs can go unnoticed for years. However, if you begin to feel pain or notice inflammation around certain joints, contact Natural State Foot and Ankle Clinic.
Early detection and treatment of bone spurs can reduce your risk of permanent joint damage. Call us today to schedule your appointment.
Nail Deformities
Nail deformities or abnormalities can be caused by aging, injury, medications, and other underlying medical conditions. To treat your nails, our specialists must first figure out what is causing the issue.
If you notice that your nails are not as smooth and consistent in color as they once were, give our office a call today to schedule your appointment. Our foot and ankle specialists can diagnose your issue and start you on the path to healthier nails.
Other
Metatarsalgia
Metatarsalgia is a condition marked by pain and inflammation in the ball of your foot. You may experience metatarsalgia if you’re physically active and you participate in activities that involve running and jumping. You can also develop metatarsalgia by wearing ill-fitting shoes.
Neuromas
Neuroma is a painful condition that affects the ball of your foot and is most commonly located in the area between your third and fourth toes.
Calluses
A callus (or callosity) is an especially toughened area of skin which has become relatively thick and hard in response to repeated friction, pressure, or other irritation. Rubbing that area too frequently or forceful will cause blisters rather than allow calluses to form. Since repeated contact is required, calluses are most often found on feet because of frequent walking. Calluses are generally not harmful but may sometimes lead to other problems, such as skin ulceration or infection.
Corns
Corns and calluses are protective layers of compacted, dead skin cells. They are caused by repeated friction from skin rubbing against bony areas or against an irregularity in a shoe. Corns ordinarily form on the toes and calluses on the soles of the feet.
Crush Injuries
A crush injury occurs when a body part is subjected to a high degree of force or pressure, usually after being squeezed between two heavy objects.
We also specialize in the following...
